es una enfermedad rara caracterizada, en la fase inicial, por un tumor mucinoso del ap\u00e9ndice, conocido como LAMN (neoplasia apendicular mucinosa de bajo grado) o HAMN (neoplasia apendicular mucinosa de alto grado). El crecimiento del tumor apendicular y su posterior ruptura provoca acumulaci\u00f3n de tumor mucinoso en toda la cavidad abdominal. El c\u00e1ncer de ap\u00e9ndice, que es muy poco com\u00fan, ocurre cuando las c\u00e9lulas del ap\u00e9ndice se transforman y comienzan a crecer y extenderse m\u00e1s all\u00e1 del ap\u00e9ndice. El c\u00e1ncer de ap\u00e9ndice a menudo conduce a la carcinomatosis peritoneal. Estas c\u00e9lulas tienden a dividirse y propagarse r\u00e1pidamente a los tejidos de alrededor, incluyendo la cavidad abdominal, lo que se conoce como carcinomatosis peritoneal. Esto es com\u00fan en casos de c\u00e1ncer epitelial de ovario avanzado y recurrentes.
